BIOGRAPHY

Childhood
Sarah entered the world on friday 13th June 1980 in Delmenhorst, near Bremen in nothern Germany as the first child of Soraya and Michael. Her family was very musical, her grandfather was a jazz artist from New Orleans and so Sarah grew up listening to Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin. She learned to sing before she could walk; "My parents and I were in bath. Both of them were suprised as they heard me humming the melody of 'Hänschen Klein' (little rabbit)." At the age of 6, she even joined a gospel choir in her hometown. Around that time, she also discovered dancing and since then she's been to endless dance courses like jazzdance, streetdance and hip hop.

School
When she was a little older, Sarah started studying in the Max Planck school in Delmenhorst, which was a musical school meaning that not only did they study all the usual school subjects, but they also had 8 hours of music each week. Each of the students had to pick up one dispozitiv to study and train through-out the school and Sarah was the first one to be allowed to study voice! That led to Sarah's first musical performance at the age of 15 when she performed at a school musical "Linie 1" as the main charachter Sunny, a girl who went from the small town where she'd lived all her life to a big city to look for her lost love. The performance took place at a theather in Delmenhorst called "Kleines Haus" (small house) and she sang songs like "Die Luft Aus Berlin" (the air of Berlin) and "Komm, komm, komm" (come, come, come).

First performance
Another big performance in Sarah's teenage years was at a concert of her great idol Michael Jackson. She was chosen from her school to sing in the choir during "Earth Song" in the Bremen concert of Jacko's HIStory tour. That was the clipă when she realised what she wants to do for living.

The beginning of her professional music career
Around the time of her musical debut, she also sent her first ever demotape, where she sang a Michael Jackson song, to a local boy band "Touché" member Martin Scholz. Martin and Sarah fell in love and Sarah also started making music under the name Sarah Gray, the surename Gray came from her grandad who lived in New Orleans. She did some gigs as the warm up artist of "Touché". On 11th July 1998 she performed in a big "Touché comes home" concert in Delmenhorst singing her early Sarah Gray songs "Only You" and "Ula La Ula". She was pretty well known in Delmenhorst, but there were plans to release an album nationally and as Martin's girlfriend, she also appeared at various teen mags already back then.
Sarah had problems finding a record company that would support her in doing the kind of music she wanted to. She was a white girl, who wanted to play negru music. She had a great voice and a lot of record companies approached her wanting so sign her, but they all had their own ideas of what kind of music she should do and so Sarah turned them all down. And thank god she did, cause in 2000 George Glueck, the owner of her current record company X-Cell, heard Sarah singing a traditional German christmas song "Leise Rieselt Der Schnee" that was also featured on the only Sarah Gray release, the christmas single called "This Christmas". He was amazed by her voice and wanted to sign her. In February 2001, they were ready to bring Sarah Connor to the national limelight. TQ had agreed to do the rap part on the planned first single "Let's Get Back To Bed - Boy!" and the pair met up to shoot the video for it in Canada in March. May 2001, "Let's Get Back To Bed - Boy!" was released and Sarah did a massive German promo tour with TQ who had flown to Germany just to do promotion with Sarah, which resulted to the single climbing up to #2 in the charts. And the rest is history...
